Urban Peak’s Job Readiness Training is designed to help job seekers of all skill levels by providing career exploration opportunities, resume and cover letter assistance, and classes emphasizing “soft skills” such as communication, goal setting, conflict resolution, and job retention. Additionally, Job Readiness Training offers on the job training through various volunteer opportunities and in class participation. Throughout Job Readiness Training, participants work with a case manager to help identify their career interests and strengths and to set goals for the course and future employment. Upon completion of Job Readiness Training, successful graduates may earn a job referral and access to the Summer Youth Employment Program and Workforce Investment Act placements, along with work attire, a haircut voucher, and a professional portfolio so they are prepared for upcoming interviews.
Job Readiness Training Job Readiness Training (JRT) is designed to assist participants in acquiring the skills needed to find and maintain employment. JRT is three weeks in duration. The first week is a job skills workshop; the second and third weeks provide supervised job search activities. During JRT, participants complete a Career Goal Plan or Employment Plan which captures essential information such as education level, job history, skills/aptitudes, and barriers to employment. There are four face-to-face sessions that begin at 9 a.m. And end at 1 p.m.; and four online sessions that occur before and between each face-to-face class.
Demonstrates acceptable behaviors in the training environment. The program’s mimic the standards for acceptable workplace behavior and performance, for example: o Students must arrive on time. Instruction begins at 9 a.m. O Students are permitted no more than one absence (online and in-person) o Business casual attire is expected at all in-person sessions. O Students must refrain from using slang, profanity and other derogatory statements. O Students must arrive rested, alert, and prepared for learning. Completes the closing assessment for the Bring Your A Game to Work curriculum. To qualify for an invitation to the assessment, students must have meet the performance and attendance standards above. To earn a Bring Your “A” Game to Work Certificate, students must complete an assessment offered by the Center for Work Ethic.
Job Readiness Training Youth Job Readiness Training for Youth (JRY) is designed to assist Transition Age Youth (TAY) participants, 18 to 24 years old, acquire the skills needed to find and obtain employment. JRY is three weeks in duration. The first week is a job skills workshop; the second and third weeks provide supervised job search activities. During JRY, participants complete a Participant's Employment Plan (PEP) which captures essential information such as education level, job history, skills/aptitudes, and barriers to employment. The JRY workshops focus on teaching TAY leadership, responsibility, self-confidence, dressing appropriately, conflict resolution, punctuality/attendance at work, financial planning and other work readiness skills.
